What's Worship Like?
Sunday morning at 10:00
Worship at Edgewood is a blend of traditional and contemporary. Most weeks the order of worship contains prayers, hymns-both old and new, children’s time, choir music, a sermon, an offering and time for reflection. The adult choir sings most weeks during the school year and sings a variety of music from Bach to gospel. Our handbell and children and youth choirs are in worship on an occasional basis.
Children and youth are invited to leave the service after children’s time, about fifteen minutes into the service, to go to their church school classes. However, children are always welcome to stay in the service as well.
Six times a year Edgewood has Intergenerational services, a time when all ages are specifically included in worship and there are no church school classes. Prayers may be led by elementary students or the scriptures read by youth. These lively, energetic services often celebrate church special days such as World Wide Communion and Palm-Passion Sunday.
Folks are invited to come to worship as they are. Some folks come in suits, some in jeans. Ties and tie-dyes are both welcome. Worship usually lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month. All people are welcome at our communion table.
