Edgewood’s music program offers opportunities for all ages and abilities to learn and grow and enjoy making a joyful noise together. Edgewood’s program has a strong classical base with a lot of variety in the kinds of music that are a part of our worship service. All people are welcome to join in. No experience is necessary.

Singing Choirs
Adult Choir: This choir sings during most Sunday worship services. The selections range from classical arrangements to spirituals to more modern pieces. The choir practices on Thursday nights from 7:15-9 pm.

Youth Ensemble: This group is open to grades 6-12 and meets on Sunday mornings after worship from 11:40-12:10 during the school year. Marcia Beer is the choir director. Choir members sing a variety of traditional, modern and world music.

Children’s Choir: The children’s choirs invite our youngest members to join in learning the basics of singing and having fun through music. Beth Lewis leads the Cherub choir of preschool through first graders. Carla Larzelere leads an Elementary choir of second through fifth graders. In addition to occasionally singing in worship, the children often perform a Christmas musical during the early family-oriented Christmas Eve service. The choir rehearses as part of the Sunday morning church school program.

Handbell Choirs
Adult Handbell Choir: Handbell choir is a great way to start to participate in the music program. This choir is led by JoAnn Hubbard and reading music is not necessary. The choir practices from 6:30-7:30 pm on Thursdays.

Youth Handbell Choir:  This choir is open to youth in 6th – 12th grades and is directed by JoAnn Hubbard, assisted by Marcia Beer. The youth learn the basics of handbell ringing as well as pieces for worship and tunes from popular music. The youth practice on Sunday mornings from 12:00-12:30pm.

Childcare is available for all rehearsal times if requested in advance.

Special Music
Several times during the year Edgewood has special musical Sundays. Instrumental Sundays invite all members to bring any instrument and play along with the hymns. Once a year we celebrate worship through Jazz Sunday. Our adult choir offers a special cantata or other long piece of music in the spring. Throughout the summer our choirs take a break and members of the congregation offer their particular musical gifts from jazz to soloists to guitars and more.
