Pre-school Children: We offer play-based Church school lessons facilitated by an adult volunteer and paid child care providers during services on Sundays.

Kindergarten through 5th grade Children: Edgewood uses a workshop rotation model for church school. The children spend several weeks at a time exploring a particular spiritual theme and associated Bible story through various learning modalities or “workshops” including art, drama, cooking, crafts, body movement, and the study of contemporary heroes and current events. Each year about six or seven major spiritual themes/stories are introduced. The curriculum is designed to help our children connect with God in ways that speak to their life experiences.

Middle School Youth: Our sixth through eighth grade students meet weekly to engage in a lively “Coming of Age” curriculum. They creatively explore their faith as they relate to their growing sense of who they are and how they relate to the world around them.

High School Youth: Our ninth through twelfth grade students meet the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month during the church service to explore and discuss important faith issues and essential Biblical passages.

                                                                                  Picture

This program is also open to high school students from other churches who would like to participate. Parental permission is required.

Youth Fellowship: Our sixth through twelfth grade students come together for shared experiences in order to build positive peer relationships, a greater sense of community, and explore their faith together. The group meets about twice a month for fellowship and service-oriented activities. This summer, 16 middle and high schoolers from Edgewood United Church will spend a week of their vacation in Tennessee helping families to accomplish much needed home repairs and ramp building projects.  Marcia Beer is leading our youth to work with the Morgan Scott Project, the Plateau, in Deer Lodge, Tennessee, located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The project calls for hard-working and dedicated volunteers, so our youth are seeking your support to help them get there to help others and learn a great deal not only about construction but also about community service and working as a team. We hope that you can help make this experience possible. If you want more information about the adventures that lie ahead for our kids visit http://www.morganscottproject.org/ or email Marcia Beer at marciabeer@yahoo.com.
